Terms of Service

Last updated: March 22, 2026

The Service

TripSplit is a web application for splitting shared expenses among groups of friends and family. The service is provided as-is, free of charge, with no guarantees of uptime or availability.

Trust-Based Model

TripSplit is designed for close friends and family who trust each other. There is no verification of participant identity. Anyone with a trip link can view and add expenses as any participant in that trip.

You are responsible for sharing trip links only with people you trust. TripSplit is not responsible for disputes between users or for unauthorized access resulting from shared links.

User Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the expenses you enter
  • You must not use the service for illegal purposes or to harass others
  • You must not attempt to access other users' data without authorization
  • You are responsible for keeping your admin account credentials secure

Trip Expiration

Trips expire 90 days after creation. After expiration, trips become read-only. You can still view all expenses and settlement information, but no new expenses can be added or existing ones modified.

Service Changes

TripSplit reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time, with or without notice. Trip data may be deleted after extended periods of inactivity.

Limitation of Liability

TripSplit is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to financial disputes, data loss, or service interruptions.
